Lake Bled Estate – Architecture of the future rooted in tradition
Location: Lake Bled, Slovenia
Typology: Hospitality
Area: 22,000 m²
Status: Under construction (2025)
Studio: Studio Tim Fu (STF)
On the shores of one of Europe's most famous lakes, Studio Tim Fu (STF) is developing a project that redefines the boundaries of contemporary architecture – Lake Bled Estate. It is an exclusive complex that includes six contemporary villas and the restoration of the historic Villa Epos, originally designed in 1909 by Jože Plečnik, one of Slovenia's most important architects.
The project combines a rich architectural heritage with advanced AI tools that help in design, heritage preservation and sustainability optimization. AI analyses enabled the reinterpretation of traditional Slovenian motifs, such as wooden risalits – vertical protrusions that in this context are transformed into contemporary atriums that let in natural light and open up views towards the lake and surrounding mountains.

The masterplan is designed according to biophilic principles, aiming to create a deep relationship between people, architecture and nature. Each villa is carefully positioned to ensure privacy, but also a sense of community through a central park intended for social interaction and silence. The landscape architecture emphasizes the healing properties of the natural environment and encourages a connection with the local ecosystem.

Lake Bled Estate represents a milestone in the application of artificial intelligence in architecture – not as a replacement for human creativity, but as its ally. The project demonstrates how technology can enhance architects' intuitive processes, ensure contextual sensitivity, and accelerate sustainable results.
